Lou Shares Her Revamped Morning Routine

Since turning 40 and moving to the countryside, I’ve found it necessary to adapt my morning health habits. Establishing a solid morning routine has become essential for setting the tone of my day. On mornings when I hit the snooze button and rush through, I end up feeling more tired and noticeably grumpier. With my day quickly consumed by taking care of my little one, nursery drop-offs, and work, a mindful morning routine allows me a bit of personal time before diving into daily responsibilities. It’s my way of nurturing myself before I focus on everything else.

Here are a few of my favourite morning habits that help me look and feel my best:

Since spring, I’ve been incorporating regular ice baths into my mornings, using the amazing Urban Ice Tribe tub, and I’m absolutely hooked. My husband and I do this first thing together, and it has become a cherished ritual. Not only is it a great bonding experience, but it also offers a range of impressive health benefits. Spending three minutes immersed in cold water enhances our focus on breathwork, and the shared sense of achievement sets a positive tone for the day.

Personally, I’ve noticed several benefits from ice bathing, such as increased mental clarity, patience, reduced stress, and a stronger immune system. One of the most significant improvements has been in my inflammation and arthritis, areas I’ve been focusing on for some time. This makes the practice even more valuable to me, as it encourages consistency to enjoy the full spectrum of benefits. Despite the initial fear and excitement each morning, once I plunge into the cold water, it’s incredibly refreshing.

As autumn and winter approach, I’m anticipating more of a challenge due to colder temperatures—but I’m determined to keep going!

To keep up with my ice bath routine during winter, my Dryrobe coat has become an absolute must-have. It’s the perfect solution for staying warm and dry before and after the bath, which makes the experience much more enjoyable. My husband and I take turns cheering each other on during our three-minute stints in the cold water, and having the Dryrobe means I can stay comfortable and accountable throughout.

This year, I’ve shifted my workouts from high-intensity interval training (HIIT) and traditional strength training to pilates-based strength classes, and the change has been transformative. Living in the countryside, I now prefer home workouts, and Onyx has made it easy to stay motivated. Their beautifully designed equipment makes exercising at home feel exciting and stylish.

The Onyx Fitness collection includes durable, elegant pieces that cater to various workout styles—whether it’s pilates, barre, or yoga. Their products are so aesthetically pleasing that I don’t mind leaving my yoga mat out on display!

I’ve streamlined my morning supplements routine, and it has become something I look forward to each day. Keeping it simple ensures I stay consistent, and these are the key supplements I rely on to feel my best:

Hifas da Terra Optimum: I typically avoid pills, but this supplement is the exception because the benefits are remarkable. Made from medicinal mushrooms, it promotes harmony and overall health. Since incorporating it into my routine, I’ve noticed a boost in my energy, focus, and immunity. It supports everything from gut health and stress management to skin vitality. It’s truly a magic pill that covers it all.

Correxiko Collagen: The effects of collagen, particularly its anti-ageing properties, are fantastic. It hydrates and plumps my skin, leaving it looking youthful, while also making my hair thicker and healthier. Collagen’s anti-inflammatory properties have greatly helped with my arthritis, improving the suppleness of my joints, which in turn makes my morning workouts more comfortable.

Sisterly “The Elevator”: This supplement has become my go-to during the colder months. Introduced to me last year, Sisterly is now a critical part of my winter wellness routine. Designed specifically for women, it boosts immunity and addresses nutritional deficiencies, helping me stay healthy throughout cold and flu season. It’s been an absolute game-changer!
